Piriformis Syndrome:

Piriformis is a muscle in the lower back/gluteal area through which the sciatic nerve passes in a small number of patients. Because of various reasons the sciatic nerve which passes through or under this muscle may become irritated and the symptoms of pain and numbness may radiate into the lower extremity.
